Well, I would have to disagree with a fellow reviewer of your story. Although popular vampire tales have often depicted them as 'dead' beings walking, it is not set in stone that our fellow author here can't make them into whatever she wants. In retrospect, if you pay attention to the "Blade" franschise, vampires were not in any form dead. They simply became vampires by exchange of saliva. "Vampirism is a disease in this storyline. They could reproduce just like humans, with significant changes of course. They have a lower body temp. They are stronger and do not "die" from age. They can hypothetically live forever. But again, if the Author wants to make her vampires have heartbeats, so be it, anything outside of the story is not fact and should not by any means stop her from doing what she wants to do with this story, or any other vampire one she has in mind. :)
