I like the fact that you are setting your story in an unique time period---there should be more stories like that :) But just a note: Viking women were not totally dominated by their menfolk; in fact, there were numerous cases where women killed their husbands. I understand letting your male characters take a dominanting role provides a lot of interesting situations, but this is not really accurate for the entire society, just to let you know. \'Civilized Europe\' degraded women and refused to give them rights much more often than the Vikings.
